Literacy Across Disciplines

Using Michigan’s Essential Practices for Literacy Instruction in the Secondary Classroom, teachers on multi-disciplinary implementation teams will learn high-yield content literacy strategies by attending 3 day-long sessions at Ingham Intermediate. Additional, monthly coaching will be provided at school sites including Jill Jackson’s five styles: observation, demonstration, side-by-side, co-observation, and shadowing. Believing collective efficacy (Hattie effect size 1.57) positively impacts student learning, teams of teachers will collaborate across building-, district-, and county-levels.
