Response to Intervention (RtI)
Response to Intervention (RtI) is an effective general education initiative that provides a framework for creating an integrated educational system. Using a multi-tiered approach for early identification and support of all students, RtI helps educators create systems and processes that support high quality instruction, ongoing use of assessment data to guide instructional decisions, and effective problem solving. Ingham ISD furthers educators’ understanding of RtI by offering a variety of related professional development options.100% of local districts within IISD have committed a significant portion of their stimulus dollars to support their efforts to implement a Response to Intervention model. Each district has identified Response to Intervention coaches designated to support individual schools and their building leadership team. The building teams and RtI coaches will be guided by the Response to Intervention Blueprints for Implementation guidance document.
In 2009-10 Ingham ISD is offering the following RtI activities/support:
Corrective Reading (SRA)
This is designed to accommodate the full range of struggling readers from deficient decoding skills (misidentifying words) to comprehension skills (not understanding what they read) or both. It is also designed to provide differentiated personalized instruction to each learner.
