Consolidated Application Training

This year the LEA Planning Cycle Application and Consolidated Application will be completed via the Advanc-Ed website. At this session, you will learn how to use the new portal to complete the requirements for the application. Participants should be district staff responsible for submitting the LEA Planning Cycle Application. Consider sending a two-person team from your district. Leah Breen and ISD/RESD consultants will be available to answer questions.

Two sessions are available:
Ingham ISD – March 24, 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Shiawasee RESD – March 4, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Seating is limited. Register today!

Functional Behavior Assessments and Effective Behavior Supports

Participants will gain an understanding of positive behavior support (PBS), functional behavioral assessment (FBA), and behavior intervention planning (BIP). Participants will learn to collect data through the functional assessment process and to use that information to guide the development of behavioral strategies. A team problem-solving process for implementing PBS and effectively and efficiently conducting FBA and developing BIP will also be presented. Participants will learn the skills necessary to utilize this process in their local districts.  Presenter: Michael Zivsak, Ingham ISD School Social Worker

IEP Compliance & Basics

This Take Out opportunity, offered on-site in local schools, will provide participants with basic information about writing a compliant and usable IEP. This IEP training can be can be customized to meet the needs of schools and districts.

REED

This Take Out training will clarify the differences between the Evaluation Review and REED (Review of Existing Evaluation Data). The REED document takes the place of the Evaluation Review. The purpose of the document has not changed, but what needs to be included has changed.

Using the CBR2 Data Collection Device to Teach About Rates of Change

This workshop is an introduction to using the CBR2s (calculator-based rangers) and graphing calculators to collect, graph and analyze data about moving objects. CBR2s are motion detectors that collect real-time data about moving objects and display the data on a computer or graphing calculator. Analysis of data from real world situations is a key component of algebra. Linear, quadratic, and periodic motions can be displayed and analyzed. Algebra and physics are more motivational to students when they do hands-on experiments and use the tools of algebra and physics to analyze data. Ingham ISD has two classroom sets of CBR2s and TI-84+ graphing calculators to loan to schools in Ingham County. Facilitator: Jennifer Nimtz, Lansing Community College mathematics consultant.

Transition and IEP Success

This workshop is designed for special education educators who want to learn more about state and federal mandates and how to improve transition planning activities. Participants will learn about transition mandates, infusing data into IEP’s and promoting student-led IEP’s to increase positive outcomes for youth. They will review federal law, state performance plan indicators, transition and self-determination activities and learn about Michigan Rehabilitation Services and eligibility for services. Participants will learn about various research and evidence-based activities that ensure positive outcomes for youth receiving special education services.

Regional Technology Academy

Now celebrating its 10th year, the Regional Technology Academy is offering 100 classes throughout five counties. The sponsoring counties are Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Shiawassee, and Livingston.  These classses are offered at a low cost to participants. Visit REMC13 for a catalog of the 2009 courses.

KeyTrain® Training

Participants will learn to create and edit students accounts, create classes and assign lessons, and understand administrative features found in the KeyTrain® learning system. KeyTrain® Training is a curriculum designed to achieve mastery of the applied workplace skills assessed by WorkKeys. WorkKeys Applied Mathematics, Locating Information and Reading for Information assessments are components of the Michigan Merit Examination. KeyTrain® courses utilize a multi-sensory, multimedia experience. Learning includes both simple skill demonstrations and high-level activities that require complex problem-solving abilities, building the learner’s skill level and confidence throughout the process. Learning modules include 16 career clusters and provide examples of real skill levels corresponding to skill levels required of jobs. Ingham ISD has provided the KeyTrain® learning system to all schools in its service area. Facilitator: Rick Harris, Regional Manager, KeyTrain®.
