In this session, educators will learn about the characteristics of a high-quality interactive read aloud as well as how to apply evidence-based strategies before, during, and after reading to enhance children’s language and literacy development. Strategies will be shared to support teachers in creating nurturing and supportive environments that foster meaningful reading experiences at school—and how to extend those practices to support families at home. The session will guide participants in connecting the Essential Instructional Practices in Early Literacy (PreK) with their curriculum materials and ongoing, authentic child assessment data to strengthen daily read alouds. Time will be provided for intentional planning to support implementation. Participants are asked to bring 1 -3 read aloud books they plan to use in the near future. Note: Kindergarten educators are welcome to register, as the PreK practices remain both relevant and beneficial during the transition to kindergarten.
