AAC in Any Field

The upcoming professional learning community (PLC) will explore key aspects of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) in educational settings, presented by a variety of professionals across different fields. By involving professionals across disciplines from all around Ingham County, we hope to better reflect the diverse populations we work with, as well as provide the opportunity to connect with our colleagues in neighboring districts. We will begin by examining the broad applications of AAC, emphasizing its relevance and flexibility in any field. Participants will then engage in strategies for creating community buy-in, essential for fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for AAC users. A session dedicated to "A Day in the Classroom" will provide practical insights into integrating AAC in daily instruction, and we will wrap-up our PLC series with discussions on affirming AAC practices, ensuring that our approaches validate and empower all learners. Throughout the PLC, we aim to facilitate collaboration and partnerships between districts and professionals, building a strong network of support for AAC implementation. Session Name List: 1. November 12th: Creating Community Buy-In (4-6pm) 2. January 28th: A Day in the Classroom (4-6pm) 3. March 18th: Affirming AAC Practices (4-6pm)
