Supporting Handwriting and other Fine Motor Considerations

You may have students in your classrooms who rarely picked up a pencil last year, due to a year of virtual learning. Handwriting is a critical skill in the early childhood (K-3) classroom because it impacts writing fluency and provides a foundation for future writing development. During this 30-minute recorded session, we will discuss how handwriting and fine motor skills develop and also explore research based practices that you can implement in your classroom. This session has been designed to be interactive with stopping points to review resources. Participants can view the session independently, in teams, or as a school during staff development times. This session highlights Essential 6 of the Essential Instructional Practices in Early Literacy, PreK and K-3.
