SSS Morning PD (Dyslexia, Self-Regulation/Sensory, Compliance)

Dyslexia - This will be an introduction to dyslexia and basic information on how prevalent it is. I will outline two students and how they presented in their early education through middle school. Self-Regulation/Sensory - Recently, our society has become more aware of and interested in using various sensory modalities to promote mental health/wellness, improved calm and focused brains and bodies, both for adults and children alike. We've got examples around us: Target carries weighted blankets, Walmart sells compression shirts and fidget tools, essential oils can be purchased even at the gas station. And teachers are interested in providing classroom spaces that meet the physical and emotional needs of their students since research shows these strategies support learning and self-regulation. In this session, we will talk about using self-regulation strategies in school by way of a Tier'd approach.  Compliance - Discussing and problem solving hot topics in special education and compliance. Introducing the team. Making the dream a reality.
